Museum & Art School Facilities
The Springfield Museum of Art is a large complex offering art enthusiasts, students, scholars, and the community at large:
- A Gallery Wing
- Seven galleries house both the museum's permanent collections and special changing exhibits.
- A School Wing
- Ten classrooms -- five of which are specially-equipped for sculpture, pottery, glass and jewelry making -- provide space and equipment for 150 courses and workshops each year. A large student gallery displays student and teacher exhibits.
- Computer Lab
- Equipped with eight Pentium workstations and an instructor's station are among the latest additions. Loaded with graphics software these new computers are used for teaching basic computer graphic and HTML techniques as well as advanced graphic and animation concepts.
- Banquet Facilities
- A spacious special events center with adjoining catering facilities can be rented for family or corporate events.
- A Gift Gallery
- The gift shop offers an array of unique gift items and the opportunity to purchase original work of artists and craftspersons.
- An Art Reference Library
- A large library includes 4500 books and journals related to the visual arts.
